"Muft Hee Muft" is a great book its probably one of the best books I've read that are in Hindi. It has a good story line and a good plot, while still being amusing and funny. It's about a man named Bhkubhai and he is a miser he does not like spending money at all. One day he wants to eat coconut but he doesn't have coconuts in his house so he has to go buy it from the market but he doesn't want to spend money...read this book to find out what happens next! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes lighthearted, interesting stories. This is a folk tale that originated in Gujarat. The Guajarati art definitely shines through this book through the language and even by the illustrations and art in this book. It has beautiful pictures and borders through out this book. This makes the story easy to follow along and fun to look at. Also on the back cover of the book it gives you background on the story and the author and illustrator. Also it gives some insight on Guajarati art. Overall this is an awesome book and it gives a very good lesson or moral as well. I enjoyed this book a lot.Product details

The book "Muft Hi Muft" is an excellent story, containing both an entertaining plot as well as conveying a serious message. Through the adventures of the man Bhikhubhai, the author warns us of the cost of greed. In fact, wanting too much could give you more than you expect! All poor Bhikhubhai wants is a coconut, but in the end what he gets is trouble! A great read for all ages, this book is a wonderful way to encourage learning Hindi, and facilitate that of those already doing so. I highly recommend this book.
Muft Hee Muft is a pretty good book. It has vocabulary that would help hindi learners, but the storyline isn't very entertaining. Most of the book focuses on Bheekubai trying to save money on a coconut. He keeps bargaining with many people that sell coconuts and in the end tries to get one for free. At this point, the book becomes a little more amusing.
As I said, this book would really help younger Hindi learners due to its vocabulary. It has a lesson to be learned don't be greedy. This book is ideal for anyone who wants to improve their Hindi vocabulary and/or wants to improve their Hindi reading skills.
This book was about a very cheap man who always wants to get something for a cheaper price. That usually means getting it for free. In this book, he wanted to have a coconut so he could eat it. He went to the market but he kept asking for a lower price. Soon, he was asking it for free. Eventually, he found a field with coconut trees. He tried to take some but he got stuck.
This book was a very funny book, but it was a bit difficult to read. There were tons of words that I didn't know and had to look up. This is a great book if you are learning hindi, but probably for a higher level.
This book is about a man who wants to eat a coconut. When he finds out that he has none at home, he realizes that he has to go out and buy one. Being a miser as he is, he thinks that it would be a good idea to bargain. The first place he goes to is a bazaar (market), the next place he goes to is the mandii, and then a ship port. Each place he goes to has a lower price than the place before, but at the same time, he tries to bargain for a lower price. Nobody lets him get a lower price. After visiting these places, he goes to the farmer who grows all the coconuts himself. The ending is hilarious and one you will not want to miss!
This book is set in rural India, and it is a classic folktale which will have you in splits at the end. The main character is an old man who has a desire to eat coconut. The only problem is that he needs to go and buy it, but he is a miser, and is not willing to pay enough for the coconut. Starting at the market, and ending at the coconut tree plantation far away, the old man stops at different places trying to get the coconut at the price he wants. Unfortunately, he wants it for free, but obviously, no one is willing to give it to him for free. The ending is the best and funniest part. I will not give it away, but you can probably guess what happens!
Definitely read this book if you can understand basic Hindi. It is not complicated at all, and the illustrations are very nice!
Muft hi Muft is a decent book for Hindi reading practice. It has an amazing set of vocabulary for Hindi beginners, therefore making it convenient for making an improvment in reading.
Although the plot was a bit... stringy. The problem is about an old man who wants a coconut at an insanely good price. He walks on and on till he tries to get it for free. When he tries to get it for free, a catastrophe happens. That part was amusing. But until he gets to that portion of the book, I found it boring. This is because they stretched the middle way too much. Nothing happens. He walks, tries to bargain, and fails. Then he walks some more, tries to bargain, and fails. That same procedure occurred so many times. For that reason I found it stringy.
All in all, this books has some ups and some downs. This led me to the mid grounded review of 3 stars.
Muft Hi Muft is definitely not one of my favorite books.
If you're looking for a way to teach someone new vocabulary, sure this book would be great. It's also good for teaching about culture, because it's a folktale. But I would definitely NOT recommend reading Muft Hi Muft for pleasure.
The storyline is boring, monotonous, and repetitive. The stingy old man, Bhikhubhai, is craving a coconut, but also wants a good price. He goes to about 4 different places just to get the coconut, eventually ending up in a coconut grove. I won't give away the ending, but it's not quite exciting. The story repeats itself SO much, and is really dry. I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you're trying to teach/learn vocabulary or culture. If not, prepare yourself for a waste of time.
